Word of the week: Love
Everyone desires to be loved. I haven’t met a person who didn’t have the desire to be loved. Have you? If you say yes, is that coming from a place of ego? Or is this individual truly uncapable of love? There are some folks who have been through an enormous amount of trauma. Many of these people haven’t started their healing process. Oh, by the way, there is no such things as being healed. It’s a continuous process as long as you are here on earth. I really don’t like when I hear that from people. Ugh! I digress, back to love. To welcome love into your heart, you must first love yourself.
How do you love yourself? Practicing some of the same principles used in a relationship. Compliment yourself all the time, not just when you know you’re really looking good and feeling great, but also when you are wearing sweats or pajamas. I’m not talking about wearing pajamas and bonnets outside your home. That is NOT self-love. It is disrespect, to yourself and others. The others being the ones that must look at you in pajamas in the store! UGH! I digress again, back to love.
Self-love is when you don’t engage in negative self-talk. For example, “I’m stupid, I never get anything right.” That’s negative and your conscious hears you. Positive self-talk, such as, “I am getting better and better every day,” is very beneficial. This one is a two in one, not only will you start to feel better, yet things will start to get better. Self-love is not being around or associating with people who disrespect you or do not have your best interest at heart. I have family members who I love, yet I love them from a distance. It’s imperative that one gets to a point of loving themselves so much they will not allow ANYONE to mistreat them!!! I’m going to say that again. It’s imperative that one gets to a point of loving themselves so much they will not allow ANYONE to mistreat them.
I’m making a big deal about this because I see people constantly being mistreated. Some of them have low self-esteem, trauma issues, or they are being manipulated, or brainwashed. Take time to love yourself and make positive changes. Remember you have the power!
