Embracing Change

At the young age of seven, I faced one of my first major life changes—my family was moving from California to Seattle. I still remember the morning they told me, sitting at the breakfast table with two pancakes and a glass of orange juice. From that day forward, I felt a nervous energy settle in. Some nights, I was restless, unable to sleep. My mind was filled with a million questions: Would I make new friends? What would school be like? What if I didn’t fit in?
One of my first memories after the move was meeting a family with seven or eight children. They all got along—no bickering, no fighting—because their parents didn’t allow it. They welcomed me in as if I were one of their own, and it was easy to connect with them since we lived right across the street. Through them, I learned the importance of getting along and, more importantly, how to adapt to change.
Now, years later, I’ve learned to embrace change as an inevitable part of life. The more we resist change, the more difficult it becomes. Is change scary? Yes, it can be. But allowing it to flow in, rather than fighting against it, is always the best course of action. I’m grateful I learned this lesson early in life.
Have you ever faced a change that seemed scary at first but turned out to be a blessing? How did you handle it?

Last week was the week of the strawberry, and I wanted to continue with the berry theme. I looked up 'berry' and found out that watermelon is actually a berry. Yes, that’s right—watermelon! If you’re looking for something that helps with muscle recovery or boosts your eye health, just to name a few, watermelon is a great choice."
Hydration: Watermelon is made up of about 90% water, which makes it excellent for staying hydrated, especially during the warmer months.
Rich in Nutrients: It’s a great source of vitamins A, C, and B6, as well as minerals like potassium and magnesium. These nutrients support immunity, skin health, and muscle function.
Low in Calories: It’s low in calories but high in nutrients, making it a satisfying snack for those looking to maintain a healthy weight.
Antioxidants: Watermelon contains lycopene and beta-carotene, powerful antioxidants that help protect against oxidative stress, reduce inflammation, and may lower the risk of certain cancers.
Heart Health: Lycopene, found in watermelon, has been linked to improved heart health by helping to reduce cholesterol levels and prevent the buildup of plaque in arteries.
Digestive Health: Watermelon contains fiber, which can help with digestion and prevent constipation.
Anti-Inflammatory: The combination of antioxidants and water content can help reduce inflammation, supporting overall joint and muscle health.
Muscle Recovery: Watermelon also contains citrulline, an amino acid that can help with muscle soreness and improve recovery after exercise.
Skin Health: The high water and vitamin C content support skin hydration and collagen production, keeping your skin smooth and healthy.
Eye Health: Vitamin A and beta-carotene are essential for eye health, and regular consumption can help prevent age-related macular degeneration.
